Media Association of Puntland (MAP) and Relief international have jointly organized a Panel discussion on the role of media in peace-rebuilding & conflict sensitivity reporting was held in Puntland state capital, Garowe on Tuesday.
Some of the main issues covered during the meeting were peace-building through media, understanding conflicts and violence, the power of media in conflict resolution and the responsibility of peace journalism.
The event was positively welcomed by all participants and managed to engage media representatives in discussions on the role of media for peace-building.
MAP chairman Faisal Khalif Barre who concluded the meeting congratulated all participants for their efforts and encouraged them to apply what they acquired from the meeting on the ongoing peace and stabilization in Somalia.
This is the first time such an awareness event on the role of media in peace rebuilding & conflict sensitivity reporting was held in Puntland.
