These insightful talks made clear how powerful the media is in molding society norms and public perceptions. Participants unanimously recommended specialized training to advance gender equality in media, recognizing the apparent gender imbalance present in Puntland’s newsrooms.
Naima Musse, MAP Secretary General, emphasized, “Gender equality in media is not merely an aspiration; it’s the cornerstone for a society truly reflective of inclusivity and representation.”
Fathi Ali, MAP Gender Officer, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Gender equality in media is imperative for a progressive society. We must foster inclusivity within newsrooms and ensure that our stories reflect the rich diversity of our society.”
The forum served as a catalyst for collective action, igniting determination to break down barriers and pave the way for balanced media representation.
As MAP continues its mission, it will spearhead comprehensive training programs designed to empower journalists, celebrating diversity, championing inclusivity, and ensuring that every voice in Puntland is heard.
