Press Release (Garowe,Puntland,Somalia) The Media Association of Puntland (MAP) in partnership with Puntland Development and Research Centre (PDRC) has on Wednesday concluded seven-day training for at least 40 journalists drawn from all Puntland regions at the PDRC headquarters in Garowe.
The closing ceremony, which journalists, media experts, government officials and other dignitaries attended, was opened by PDRC boss Abdirahman Abdulle Osman (better known as Shuke).
“Thank you very much for attending this seven-day long training, our aim as a centre is to get professional journalists who can deliver a quality and accurate news to their audiences,”, Shuke stated.
Speaking at the event, MAP chairman Faisal Khalif thanked the centre of its commitment on promoting Puntland media, and also highlighted the importance of upgrading their professional standard of journalism.
“I do thank the partners of this program in standing up jointly by making this training possible, I want to assure you (journalist) that such a training program is not limited as we are planning to extend such programs in the future”, Khalid noted.
Journalists who benefited from this program were awarded attendance certificates at the end of the ceremony by MAP and PDRC officials.
The program, which is the first of its kind launched from 25th to 31st December, was intended on enhancing media field access and understanding embedment processes.
