The Media Association of Puntland (MAP) strongly condemns the arbitrary deactivation of social media pages belonging to several MAP-affiliated journalists. This unjust action threatens press freedom and hinders the ability of journalists to carry out their essential role in informing the public and fostering accountability.
MAP calls on the responsible platform to immediately restore the affected accounts and ensure that journalists’ rights to freedom of expression are respected. We urge social media companies to prioritize transparency and fairness in their moderation processes to protect media professionals from undue censorship.
