MAP and PDRC conducted seven-day training for 40 journalists:

Press Statement(Garowe,Puntland,Somalia) 25th December 2014 : The Media Association of Puntland (MAP) in partnership with Puntland Development and Research Centre (PDRC) conducted a workshop on enhancing media field access and understanding embedment processes which was held  PDRC headquarters in Puntland capital, Garowe on Thursday.

The seven-day workshop, supported by Interpeace has brought together some 40 media workers from Puntland regions.

The opening ceremony of the workshop was attended by Puntland’s assistant minister of information, PDRC acting-director and Secretary of Media Association of Puntland

Nur Ahmed, assistant minister of information who officially opened the event stated that the ministry is warmly welcoming any agency to development Puntland media industry

PDRC acting director, Ali Farah who made his opening remarks on the event indicated that the centre is committed on enhancing Puntland media to have a field access and understand embedment processes.

“I argue you to make use of the workshop,because it will only not support  but also our community”,PRDC director noted.

Speaking at the event, General Secretary of Media Association of Puntland Fatima Mohamed praised Puntland Development and Research Centre of its role on promoting quality of Puntland media.

“It is much pleasure for us that you participated this workshop on improving  and at the same time encouraging field access, however, at ending of this workshop i hope the training outcome will contribute and promoting your knowledge”, Mohamed stated.

This is the first time such a workshop on enhancing media field access and understanding embedment processes was held in Puntland capital, Garowe.
